Skyline Trail- Highlands National Park

Directions:

From Cheticamp, follow the Cabot Trail into the park, trailhead parking is 15km past the Cheticamp Visitor Centre on the left.

Description:

The Skyline Trail is one of the most popular day hikes in the Highlands National Park, a 7km (4.25mi) round trip that leads to a steep cliff overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There is a dramatic view of the coastline and the ocean hundreds of meters below. On the left you can see cars climbing French Mountain, while the lighthouse on Cheticamp Island is visible in the distance. This trail sees a lot of foot traffic so extensive boardwalks were built near the headland to reduce the damage to vegetation from human intrusion. There are interpretive panels explaining the surroundings as you walk along the boardwalk.
