SCOTIA PADDLEFEST

In 2006 The Trail Shop and Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia (CKNS) put together the first Scotia Paddlefest at Graham’s Grove in Dartmouth.  Due to the great success of this event, and the good time had by all, we’ve decided to put together the 2nd annual Scotia Paddlefest, Sunday June 17th (Father’s Day) at Graham’s Grove on Lake Banook.

Join us for a day of paddling on Dartmouth’s most storied paddling lake.  It’s a chance to try out over 30 different models of canoes and kayaks from industry leading suppliers in one day!  You’ll be able to meet with and receive advice and tips from the best local outfitters, including Coastal Adventures, North River Kayak Tours and Sea Sun Kayak .  With skill clinics throughout the day there’s something for all levels of paddlers, from the rank beginner to the seasoned veteran. 

It’s not all about the paddlers either, you can learn more about available programs from Nova Scotia Sea School, and the amazing sports supported by Atlantic Winds Adventures.  

If you are more the dry land type we still have plenty for you to do: You can learn more about geocaching from the Atlantic Canada Geocaching Association or talk to the folks from Leave No Trace, Duke of Edinburgh and Nova Scotia Outdoor Leadership Development (NSOLD).

As a new addition for 2007 you can check out camping gear from industry leading companies such as Eureka, North Face, Mountain Hardwear and Sierra Designs.  Whether you are looking for a new family tent or the ultimate lightweight tent to pack into your kayak’s hatch you’ll be able to see a full line of tents on sight.

Brigadoon Children’s Camp Society will be on hand again, serving up BBQ for all who attend.  While there is no charge for the event we encourage you to drop off a donation for the food and take this chance to find out more about Brigadoon’s important mission. 

The event will begin at 10 am and continue, rain or shine, until 4pm.  Bring the family, try some new gear, and enjoy the start of summer.
