Guysborough Nature Trail

Directions:

Take either the 276 or the 16 to Guysborough, the trail starts across from the fire hall and caboose, its red with CN on the side you can't miss it.

Description:

This trail is Nova Scotia's first part of the Trans-Canada Trail. Starting at a caboose, which serves as the interpretive center, it picks up a would-be railroad that never materialized. The trail is divided into a 6.3km front country trail and a 38km back country trail. This trail passes by a waterfall over 60 meter long McAllister cable suspension bridge, a hippie camp log cabin, lots of 'helpful' signs, the village of Cross Roads Country Harbour. You can use this trail by hiking, biking, horseback, snow shoe or cross country skiing, making it truly multi-purpose. The back country trail parallels the Salmon River for 20km with several waterfalls in sight.
