Crichton Island Trail


Directions:

Take Highway 104 out of Port Hawkesbury. Exit to the right on the Route 320 at Louisdale. Turn right after the causeway on to Route 206. Follow 206 to West Arichat. Turn right onto Crichton Road near the Co-Op. Park at the breakwater the trail begins at the other end of the breakwater.

Description:

This trail circumnavigates Chichton Island offering hilly wooded areas, marshes, and rugged coastline. The path is fairly easy to follow and it leads to a maintained look-off just over 2km down the trail. The trail starts again at the end of the field by the look-off this trail leads to another platform viewing area a little over 1km away. The trail follows the shore back to the breakwater. The trail suffers from some erosion and may be hard to negotiate at times. Take your camera and enjoy this neat part of Cape Breton Island.
